The Devil Wears Prada 2 isn't the only upcoming movie starring Anne Hathaway as a writer.
On Monday, April 27, Amazon MGM released the first official teaser of the upcoming movie adaptation of Colleen Hoover's bestselling 2018 novel of the same name starring Hathaway, Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett.
The teaser begins with Johnson’s character, Lowen Ashleigh, walking through a mysterious home at night and heads straight for Jeremy Crawford, played by Hartnett. Lowen was hired as a ghost writer for renowned author Verity Crawford (Hathaway), who is married to Jeremy.

Verity, bedridden from a car accident, is asleep just feet away from Jeremy when Lowen slips in wearing a silk robe, joins him on a sofa as he watches T.V., and sits on his lap.
The two begin passionately kissing until Lowen pulls away for a moment and Jeremy is now Verity. Verity gives a sinister look before grabbing Lowen’s head and forcing another kiss, this time leaving Lowen’s lip bloody.
The transferred blood shows on the author's teeth and Lowen screams in fear as Kylie Minogue’s “Can't Get You Out of My Head” becomes the soundtrack for the psychological thriller.
Other scenes show Verity before her accident, appearing confident and well dressed, then after, wheelchair bound and in a melancholy state as she’s spoon-fed in her secluded estate.
“Even with my generous warning, you’re going to continue to ingest my words,” Verity says as a montage plays consisting of a bedroom sex scene between Lowen and Jeremy, a substance being poured into a drink, dark nights, blood, and more horrified screams.

“But no one thing,” Verity continues. “There is no light where we’re going. Darkness ahead.”
Verity is directed by Michael Showalter from a screenplay by Nick Antosca. Per a synopsis, the film follows a struggling writer (Johnson) who gets the "job offer of a lifetime" when Verity's husband Jeremy hires her to complete the remaining books in his wife's successful series after a "mysterious accident" has left Verity unable to finish.
However, upon arriving at the Crawford home, Lowen uncovers a secret manuscript that reveals unsettling details about the family’s past, leading her to question whether Verity’s writings are fiction or a chilling confession from a deranged mind.

As she grows closer to Verity's husband and son Crew, Lowen attempts to determine the truth — and grapples with how much of it she should share.
In February 2025, Hathaway and Hartnett were spotted filming Verity in New York City, photographed running down the street while wearing semi-formal attire and holding hands. Two weeks later, Johnson was spotted filming with Hartnett, splattered with fake blood all over her face and clothing. They seemed to be shooting a scene from the book that involved a car accident.
