Chloe Fineman’s family has a new dog — and an interesting way of puppy-proofing their home!
On Wednesday, Dec. 31, the 37-year-old Saturday Night Live star took fans inside her parents’ home to show off not just their adorable puppy, but also how her mom readied the house for the pet.
“My mom got a puppy and lost her f------ mind,” the comedian said in an Instagram video of herself standing next to her father.
Her mother, Ellen Gunn, and father, David Fineman, were both tagged in the clip.

“So here’s a guided tour of how we protect the kitchen,” David said.
The scene then switched from the father-daughter duo in the living room to them in the kitchen with David standing behind a black puppy gate.
“We usually have clamped here,” Chloe said off-camera, demonstrating how they kept the gates secured with a spring clamp. “Then this goes all along here,” she continued, panning the room to show wire gates installed all along the floor and cabinets.
“Mom, this is f------ insane,” Chloe said, as David was heard urging her to “be careful.”
Next up was a tutorial on how the family was able to (or not able to) function in their home thanks to the puppy proofing.
“Time to sit!” Chloe said, showing her father attempting to sit in a leather chair with barbed wire-like fencing around it.

David let out a loud yell and grabbed his crotch in playful agony as Chloe laughed.
Chloe tried sitting next, also screaming out in exaggerated pain and grabbing her private area as her father asked off-camera what happened.
Now back in the kitchen, Chloe sarcastically said, “I will say, there’s a very thoughtful touch if you move here.”

“You can barely open the trash,” Chloe later lamented, laughing while showing off more of her mother's dog proofing.
After an extended tour of how difficult the gates made their lives, Chibby finally appeared on camera and sat on command.
Chloe also showed off her mother’s “puppy proof picnic table” in the middle of the dining room.
The Summer of 69 actress is no stranger to puppy parenting. In March 2025, she spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about her own Shiba Inu named Peach.
"He looks like a peach. He sounds like a peach. He's sweet as a peach. And also, at the time, Georgia had swung the [2020] election, so I was really into that," she said of how the canine got its name.

While sharing how she keeps her dog in shape with Hill's Pet Nutrition, she recalled, "I had the same breed as a kid, and by the end, our dog truly looked like an ottoman; he was so chunky."
She also added that finding a food that works well for your pet “doesn't have to be complicated.”
