Shay Mitchell‘s luggage company BÉIS will be acquired by Samsonite in a $210 million deal.

Samsonite announced the acquisition in a press release on Wednesday, Aug. 12. Mitchell, 39, started the luggage and lifestyle company in 2018. Beach House Group, which helped launch BÉIS and owns a 70% stake in the company, is selling its shares to Samsonite.

The Pretty Little Liars actress called the acquisition “a dream come true” in a statement.

“I’m so proud of what our small but mighty team has built over the past eight years,” Mitchell, who serves as Chief Creative Officer of BÉIS, added. “We’ve always dreamed big, and joining the Samsonite Group gives us the chance to dream even bigger.”

“They’re truly the perfect partner — our strengths complement each other so well, together we can take BÉIS places we couldn’t have on our own,” she added. “I’m so thankful that I get to do something I love every day. Eight years in, I’m as excited as I was on day one. It honestly feels like we’re just getting started, and I can’t wait for everyone to see what’s next.”

Mitchell, an avid traveler herself, founded BÉIS in 2018, initially sketching the now best-selling Weekender Bag on a cocktail napkin. she previously told PEOPLE. The stylish yet durable luggage line has since considerably expanded. It includes a line of children’s luggage inspired by her own children, daughters Atlas, 6, and Rome, 4, who she shares with partner Matte Babel.

Kyle Gendreau, CEO of Samsonite Group, said in a statement that he looked forward to bringing BÉIS into Samsonite’s “family of innovative and iconic brands.”

“This transaction aligns closely with our key growth priorities: elevating awareness of consumer-centric brands, strengthening our digital capabilities to further support multi-channel growth, expanding our presence in lifestyle bags, and continuing to deliver innovative products that resonate with consumers around the world,” Gendreau added.

In 2024, the brand launched a utility collection to support the National Parks Foundation in order to help youth reconnect with the outdoors and help fund conservation efforts for vulnerable environmental habitats. The brand’s Camp BÉIS pop up was stationed near four national parks, including Yosemite, Zion, Rocky Mountain and Great Smoky Mountains.

Samsonite’s acquisition of BÉIS is currently expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, pending regulatory approval, per the company’s announcement.
