Robert Duvall was "surrounded by love and comfort" when he died on Sunday, Feb. 15.
The Oscar-winning actor, best known for his roles in Hollywood classics such as "The Godfather" and "Apocalypse Now," died "peacefully" at home in Middleburg, Virginia at the age of 95, a representative confirmed to USA TODAY.
His wife Luciana paid tribute to Duvall in a heartfelt tribute writing, "Yesterday we said goodbye to my beloved husband, cherished friend, and one of the greatest actors of our time."

"To the world, he was an Academy Award-winning actor, a director, a storyteller. To me, he was simply everything," Luciana Duvall wrote in a Feb. 16 Facebook post. "His passion for his craft was matched only by his deep love for characters, a great meal, and holding court.

"For each of his many roles, Bob gave everything to his characters and to the truth of the human spirit they represented. In doing so, he leaves something lasting and unforgettable to us all," she added.
Luciana Duvall also thanked the fans for the "years of support you showed Bob," but asked for time and privacy to celebrate the memories he left behind.

Who is Luciana Pedraza?
Luciana Duvall (née Pedraza) is an Argentinian actress and director, best known for her work in "Assassination Tango," "Portrait of Billy Joe," "Wild Horses" and "This Is Your Life."
An avid fan of the tango, Luciana starred alongside her husband in "Assassination Tango," which was written, directed and produced by the Academy Award-winning actor.

When Luciana is not acting, or directing, she is helping families in need. According to Candid, the couple founded Robert Duvall Institute Inc., a foundation meant to assist in the "health, education, and relief of children in Argentina who are poor and distressed or underprivileged."
Luciana Duvall was Duvall's fourth wife. The couple was married in 2005 after years of dating and stayed together up until his death. The couple reportedly met at a bakery in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
