Brandi Carlile revealed Kelly Clarkson and Reba McEntire sang karaoke together at Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert’s 2011 wedding
The duo kept singing late into the night, even delaying shuttle buses as McEntire performed “Fancy” with Clarkson harmonizing
Clarkson and McEntire share a close bond, with Clarkson calling their friendship and family connection a highlight of her life
If anyone’s going to hog the karaoke microphone, it might as well be Kelly Clarkson and Reba McEntire!
In a new episode of Las Culturistas podcast, Brandi Carlile revealed that Clarkson and McEntire really enjoyed their time singing together at Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert’s 2011 wedding — like, really enjoyed.
Carlile, 44, said she attended the Texas nuptials and sang the then-couple down the aisle with her song “The Story.” Afterward, it was party time, and McEntire and Clarkson had a hard time letting the night end.
“Everybody was getting drunk and singing karaoke, and Kelly Clarkson was there and Reba McEntire was there. And they started singing together and then they just like, didn’t get off stage,” Carlile recalled. “Like, the party was over and we had to take these shuttle buses back to the hotel, and I remember the whole shuttle bus was waiting for Reba McEntire.”

Carlile said that as she waited on the bus, she could hear the country star, 71, singing “Fancy,” with Clarkson, 44, doing harmonies.
“I was like, ‘These bitches are everything everybody hopes they are and no one knows.’ But now you know,” said Carlile. “They’re so rad.”

Lambert and Shelton divorced in 2015, but their wedding took place in May 2011, about a year before Clarkson started dating McEntire’s then-stepson Brandon Blackstock. The “Since U Been Gone” singer and Blackstock were married for nearly seven years before they split in 2020, and he died last year.
She and McEntire remain close. In 2018, Clarkson covered “Fancy” in honor of McEntire at the 2018 Kennedy Center Honors.
“I’ve been a fan of Reba since I was a little girl. Her voice has always felt nostalgic for me. Even as an adult, there’s something about her tone and her storytelling that just feels like home,” Clarkson said at the event. “Sometimes when we meet our heroes, it doesn’t always pan out how you hope. But meeting Reba — being friends with her, and eventually becoming family — has been one of the highlights of my life, truly.”
Elsewhere on the podcast, Carlile praised Clarkson’s vocal prowess, joking that she’s an “actual freak.”
“She doesn’t actually have a head voice. Like it goes all the way to the top, where her head voice would be, and there’s no break in it,” she said. “It’s incredible what she can do and how she can control it. She’s steady too.”
