In a new social media video, Kate Cassidy posted an update on her life and grief a year and a half after the death of her boyfriend, One Direction singer Liam Payne.
On Friday, April 24, the content creator posted a video on her TikTok and Instagram platforms — where she has over 2.7 million followers — to share that she feels "ready to start dating again." Her announcement comes about 18 months after Payne died at age 31 due to a fatal fall from the balcony of his hotel room in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in October 2024.
Speaking to viewers in her recent post, Cassidy, 27, admitted that she's not sure what to expect, but she is looking ahead toward her future.

"I think that love after loss is a big chapter within your grief journey and I don't know how that's gonna feel," she said. "But what I do know is that I loved being in love. I want to have kids one day. I want to have a family, and I know Liam would want that for me, and if the roles were reversed I would want him to be happy and fall in love again."
She maintained that she will "always love" the late singer. "That will never change, no matter who I meet and who comes into my life," said Cassidy, who became choked up during her video. "I am probably going to — not even probably, I'm going to think about Liam on my wedding day. I'm going to think about him every day for the rest of my life, and that goes without saying."

Since Payne's death, Cassidy has consistently talked about him and their relationship online. Before the one-year anniversary of the tragedy, the influencer shared an emotional TikTok video discussing her process of grieving. She also recalled her final goodbye with the performer before she departed Argentina, where he died four days later.
“I was sitting on the couch, just expressing to him how much I'm going to miss him, how much I love him,” she said, her voice breaking. “Honestly, it's so weird to look back at because it was such a long, heartfelt goodbye. He looked at me and he said, ‘[Kate], you're going to miss your flight. You're acting like this is the last time you're ever going to see me again.' And little did I know, it literally was the last time I got to see him.”
