Avengers fans have been left thrilled after Marvel dropped a new trailer for Avengers: Doomsday.

The latest teaser for the highly-anticipated Marvel movie has left fans in awe as they see Robert Downey Jr. return to the franchise as the evil Victor Von Doom. Fans will of course now up until now Robert portrayed the charming Tony Stark aka Iron Man, who sadly died in Avengers: Endgame.

The fresh trailer sees Fantstic Four character Susan Storm (Vanessa Kirby) discussing her former colleague Victor, as the chilling extent of his power is revealed when he is challenged by Thor (Chris Hemsworth), who vows to send him to hell. He then terrifyingly warns "hell answers to me, for I am Doom." It comes as fans speculated over Chris Evans altered appearance in the movie.

The terrifying character is set to make waves in the Multiverse

The latest trailer has sparked excitement on social media with many gushing about what's to come. One shared on X, "Yo this Doomsday teaser is pure fire Doom looks straight-up terrifying sitting on that green throne and then commanding those Sentinels like 'Hell answers to me.' RDJ is about to go crazy, can’t wait for Dec 18."

A second said, "'He used to be different.'That line alone has me counting the days for Avengers: Doomsday." A third posted, "The man who built the foundation of the MCU is returning to tear it down."

A fourth shared, "RDJ as Doom?? Absolute wild switch-up. 'He used to be different' hits different when it's literally Tony Stark turning into the metal-faced menace. Doomsday about to go crazy."

A fifth added, "You guys might’ve just broken the world record for most tickets ever sold in 60 minutes. Every single movie theater in the United States is sold out for weeks."

Thor goes head-to-head with Dr Doom in the trailer

While Marvel fans are delighted to see the return of Robert as an alternative character, there is also speculation over what role Chris Evans will play now that he passed the shield of Captain America to Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie). The last we saw of Steve Rogers he was happily married to the love of his life, Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), after traveling back in time to return the infinity stones to their original timeline after the Avengers finally defeated Thanos (Josh Brolin) and brought back half of humanity he had wiped out.

Chris Evans returns as Steve Rogers - but not Captain America

Instead of returning to the modern day as Captain America, he came back as an old man to give Sam his authority to become Cap. Marvel buffs will know that Steve Rogers actually has an alias in the Marvel comics, Nomad, who becomes his alter ego after he gives up his role as Captain America.

As he is seen once again gripping Thor's hammer, Mjölnir, in the furst trailer, and his appearance has changed considerably, it seems likely Nomad will be his new role. Obviously, Mjölnir will only answer the call of those the mighty hammer deems worthy - with Steve/Nomad an obvious candidate after his thousands of heroic acts. Plus, he already wielded Mjölnir in the fight against Thanos in Endgame.

Avengers: Doomsday is in theaters December 18.
