Avengers: Doomsday Special Look - The Marvel Easter Eggs only eagle-eyed fans would spot

Marvel has officially released a special look at their upcoming movie Avengers: Doomsday. The two-minute and nine-second video stars Robert Downey Jr. as Victor Von Doom, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, and Chris Hemsworth as Thor.

The new footage does more than introduce these characters, as it also includes many Marvel Easter Eggs that just might have revealed more about the movie's story. In the special look, viewers get a better look at Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, a few important clues, and it also raises questions about Doom's connection to Reed Richards.

The special look of Avengers: Doomsday opens with Doctor Doom sitting on his throne, filled with green runes that closely resemble the magical power of Loki, as Sue Storm gives the Avengers andX-Men background about Doctor Doom. Sue tells them Victor was always the smartest guy in the room and that he used to be different, but he changed when everything he loved was taken from him, as the trailer shows Victor near the portrait of his wife and son.

Sue mentions that she knew he was lost but didn't realize that he was dealing with a lot. The next shot opens with the ruins of Manhattan, specifically Central Park, hinting that a huge fight has taken place in this location. Pedro Pascal's Reed Richards asks Victor if he was responsible for the devastation. And Doctor Doom replies that all of them had lived stolen lives, and now they must give them back.

Reed shouts at Victor to answer him if he has done this as Thor flies to the battleground, Stormbreaker in hand, ready to fight Doctor Doom. This shows a shift towards a more serious Thor who is possibly there to protect his daughter, Love, who was introduced in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Marvel fans would also notice that Reed Richards addresses Doctor Doom as Victor, implying that this variant of Doctor Doom might be from Earth 828, TheFantastic Four's home universe. Comic fans would also notice that Reed Richards and Doctor Doom are men of similar intellect and have chosen widely different paths, as shown in the trailer.

The money shot of the trailer comes with Doctor Doom stopping Thor's Stormbreaker with his fingers. This just shows the power that Doctor Doom possesses, as this was the weapon used to decapitate Thanos. As Doom stops the Stormbreaker, his gauntlet shows the same runes that we see in the throne room.

The trailer ends with the scene where Doom can be seen controlling the sentinels, famous robots made to hunt and remove mutants. Interestingly, Doom doesn't control the sentinels by overriding their program but rather by sending a green mist to control them. This shows that Doom is using magic to control the machines as if they were part of him, as the Sentinels move with him.

There is a theory that Doom might steal God of Stories, Loki's cosmic power, at the start of Avengers: Doomsday, as he has famously done to a lot of gods and cosmic beings in the comics. This might lead to Loki travelling to recruit Steve Rogers, a scene of which is shown with Loki wearing a TVA uniform in a room that looks like Steve Rogers' house with Peggy, which was shown at the end of Avengers: Endgame.

Another interesting theory connects the featurettes released by Marvel before the release ofthe Avengers: Doomsday trailer, which showed Steve Rogers and Thor individually. The theory hints that these featurettes were actually Doctor Doom looking from his throne room, planning his move.

At the same time, this also hints that Avengers: Doomsday might not start with Doctor Doom as the main villain but rather as an ally whom Reed Richards recruits to stop the incursions, not knowing the fact that it is Victor Von Doom himself who is responsible for this, leading to a mid-movie heel turn.
