Truro City manager John Askey hopes Tyler Harvey can replicate the goalscoring form that helped the Tinners win promotion two seasons ago.

Harvey, 31, scored Truro's opening goal of the season as they went on to beat Maidenhead United 2-0 in their opening National League South game last Saturday.

The striker scored 25 goals when Truro won the division in 2024-25, but injuries hampered him last season as he scored just five times in 25 appearances as the Cornish side were relegated from the National League.

"Tyler, for the majority of the season last season wasn't properly fit," Askey told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"We're just hoping that he can stay fit for all the season because he does make a difference to us.

"He's proven time and time again in this league that he can get goals which are going to be vital for us."

The former Plymouth Argyle youngster was a key part in Truro's rise from the seventh tier to their first-ever season in the fifth tier last term.

Askey says it is not just his goals which are important, but also his impact on the rest of the team.

"He's got a good football brain," he said ahead of this Saturday's trip to Chelmsford City.

"Not only does he get goals, he creates chances for other people as well and when he's on full form he makes a big difference to us.

"We just have to manage his injuries and hopefully he'll play the majority of the games."
