Adam Scott had a hell of a time as a young actor.
The *Hokum* star recently reflected on his experience auditioning for a role in the sixth *Hellraiser* film, *Hellraiser: Hellseeker*, after dying in the horror series' fourth film years earlier.
Scott made his film debut in 1996’s *Hellraiser: Bloodline* as Jacques, a young man who helps his aristocrat boss summon a demon named Angelique (Valentina Vargas). But, as he admitted on Thursday's episode of *Late Night With Seth Meyers, *he* *knew very little about the franchise before his audition.
"I was like, 'Oh, this is an acting job?'" he recalled. "And so I was so excited."

Host Seth Meyers acknowledged that things "don't go great" for Jacques, holding up a still that featured Scott in character bleeding profusely from his face.
Scott agreed, saying, "I think someone bites my face off."
It's true. Jacques and Angelique initially make a deal to work together, but when he fails to comply with Hell's wishes she murders him by slashing his face, taking a bite out of his cheek, and tearing his heart out.

Following his *Hellraiser* role, Scott continued to appear in various projects over the next few years —until a familiar horror franchise came knockin'.
"My agent sends an audition for *Hellraiser 6,* and I'm like, 'Now, wait a second… I was in *Hellraiser 4,*'" he said, sounding perplexed by the situation. "But I need a job, so I'm like, 'Screw it.' And I go to the audition just thinking, 'Maybe they won't notice that I was in *Hellraiser 4*.'"

Spoiler alert: It was awkward. "I remember being in the waiting room kind of looking around and seeing a door ajar to someone's office and seeing a producer from *Hellraiser 4* in the office and just holding my papers up," he said. "Like, 'Okay, if he doesn't see me, and they think I do a good job, maybe I'll get in *Hellraiser 6 *as well.'"
"But it didn't come to pass," Meyers said. To which Scott replied, "No! Like, what the f---?"
Scott discussed his *Hellraiser: Bloodline* role in a 2015 BuzzFeed interview, calling it a "huge deal" at the time. "I remember my first day on set, I was super excited," he said. "And I get there and they're like, 'Here's your chair, Adam,' and I walk over and instead of 'Adam Scott,' the chair said 'Adam Craig' for some reason. I don't know. But it was a nice welcome to Hollywood."
He noted that it took several years for the film to actually be released because it underwent extensive reshoots. "So, needless to say, it wasn't a great movie," he said, "but I remember just being excited because it was a real movie, and I didn't care if it was s---ty. And it did end up being very, very s---ty, but I was just happy to have a job."
Scott's latest horror flick, *Hokum,* is playing now in theaters. Watch him reflect on almost being in *Hellraiser* twice in the clip above.
